John's Birthday

Okay! Finally, another cake to upload! I apologize in advance that the photos are a bit blurry but here is John's Birthday cake!

It is made out of yellow cake with chocolate icing. Decorations are made out of fondant and buttercream icing. Hope y'all enjoy!

The cake before any decorations were put on it.

John is added. He looks a little chubby cause the
fondant got affected by gravity. Oops!

River rocks!

Almost done...

The finished cake!

He was really suprised!

Me and John with his cake! Love you hun!

Now that John's birthday is over, I'm not sure what my next project will be. I'll probably make some cookies or something for Valentine's Day. Other than that, I'm not sure. If you have an idea (a birthday perhaps) let me know- maybe I'll make a cake for YOU!

No Cakes Yet...

Sorry all. I haven't made another cake yet but don't worry- I've got one that I'm planning in my mind for John's 23rd Birthday! I would write about my ideas on here but I don't want him to find out what it's going to look like, so check back around February 3rd (day after his birthday) for pictures of my next cake!

I can't wait!

First Attempt

Well, it's time for me to share with you my first cake EVER. I'm so thrilled with how it turned out (I made it for my mom's birthday). Hope you enjoy the pictures of John and I making this pink concoction!

Here was our inspiration.

John likes the icing!

And here is the finished result! We are so proud of it!

What Would You Do If I Got All Fat & Buttered Up?

Last night John and I decided to experiment with some icing recipes since we are planning on making our first cake for my mom's birthday on Monday. We chose a recipe from The Confetti Cakes Cookbook.

Here is the icing, chilling out in the fridge.
It looks more like coleslaw but it tastes AWESOME!

Inspired by last night's experiments, today I decided to work a little bit more on icing techniques. Here is a photo of some of the piping I did. It took me a few tries to get it right, but I'm pretty satisfied with the overall look.

Shell, shell, shell...

Finally, after working really hard on a lot of different borders and stuff, I decided to really push myself and see if I could make a Wilton Rose. I didn't expect to be able to do it, but here is the final product:

I LOVE MY FLOWER!!

I made one more just to make sure it hadn't been a fluke.
Tada! Flowers for two!

And, in case you were wondering what the title for this post was all about, last night I asked John what he would do if I got all fat and buttered up like the buttercream icing we made last night. His answer? "Whip you back into shape!"

Haha. Funny.
